CO-FOUNDERS of WESTERN AIR EXPRESS AND WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PILOTS TO FLY COMBAT WITH THE 27th AERO SQUADRON IN 1917 AND WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL AIR SERVICE TRAINING IN1917 !

I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE AS MANY PEOPLE PRESENT AT THE "GRAND RE-OPENING'
AS POSSIBLE THAT HAD "SOME CONNECTION WITH GRANDCENTRAL AIR TERMINAL"

Ithink some one should be "Documenting" the "Renavation " of the  1st Airport in the  San Fernando  Valley.. Grand Central Air Terminal.. on 1310  AIRWAY GLENDALE CA 91201
It  was the Airport  used by all the  "MOVIE STARS"  of the Past and is finally being redone after some 20 years   Disney owns  it and of course will turn it into Their Offices or something....
I would like to see a "Grand Opening of as many people that Knew about this Place that was used by Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes, Roscoe Turner and many others...

******************************************************************************************************************

THEY ARE NOW RENOVATING  GRAND CENTRAL AIR TERMINAL ....

Grand Central Air Terminal
Author(s): John Underwood
From1923, when it was known as the Glendale Airport, to the World War II era, when the military took it over, Grand Central Air Terminal was the main commercial airport servingSouthernCalifornia and the ancestral home of what became Convair (General Dynamics) and Hughes Aircraft
From Geust Book Page..
My father flew out of Grand Central in the late 30's and worked at Lockheed during the war designing the P38 and my mom also worked at Lockheed as a rosie the riviter.

*********************************************************************************************
Grand Central Airport, Glendale, California, also known as Grand Central AirTerminal (GCAT), was an important facility for the growing Los Angeles suburb of Glendale in the 1920s. It was also a key element in the development of United States aviation. The terminal, located at 1310 Air Way, was built in 1928 and is still there
.Owned since 1997 by the Walt Disney Company, it remains the last standing structure, and sole surviving witness, to the area's historic significance, and is in urgent need of restoration and repair. The single concrete 3,800-foot (1,200 m) runway still exists, but it was dug up and converted into Grand Central Avenue, Now serving cars, not airplanes.

This is and was  an AIRPORT and should be
"The Aviation Museum of THE STARS"

This is the last building of significance from"The Golden Age of Aviation "in
the San Fernando and it represents one of the premier airports in our area.
